Shopify custom app
A Shopify app built for your store alone.
A custom app that does the one thing your store needs and no public app does, connected to your admin, your data and your other systems.
When no public app fits, stores end up stitching three together, paying for features they never use, or doing the work by hand in a spreadsheet. The gap is usually specific — a pricing rule, a fulfilment step, a sync with a system only your business uses — and that is exactly what a general app is not built for.
From $3,000, quoted against a fixed scope after a scoping call.
You own the code and the repository, and the app is installed on your store alone — nothing about it changes because another business asked for something.

What gets built
The scope, first
What the app has to do, what it reads and writes in your store, and what it connects to — written down and agreed before any code is written.
Built on Shopify’s APIs
The app works through Shopify’s own APIs and asks for access only to the parts of the store it needs.
Inside your admin where it helps
Settings and screens inside the Shopify admin, where your team already works, rather than another login somewhere else.
Connected to your other systems
Inventory, accounting, fulfilment or ERP systems linked to the store, so the data moves without someone copying it across.
Pricing
Built for and installed on your store only. Quoted against a fixed scope after a scoping call, and you own the code.

Questions
What is a custom app?
It is Shopify’s term for an app built for and installed on a single store — they were formerly called private apps. Because it is yours alone, it does what your store needs and nothing it does not.
Who owns it?
You do. The code and the repository are yours, so if you ever want someone else to maintain it, everything they need is yours to hand over.
When should I not buy this?
If a public app does most of what you need, use it and live with the rest — it will be cheaper for years. A custom app is worth building when no app does the job, when the apps that come close cost more each year than the build, or when the workflow is specific enough that nobody else would build it.
What does it cost to run?
Most custom apps need hosting of their own, billed by the host and separate from Shopify’s plan. It is estimated in the quote.
What are you doing by hand that an app should do?
Describe the job, step by step. I will tell you whether an existing app covers it or whether it needs building.
